About

My Name Is Jenn Davidson

Here are the top 3 reasons to contact me to investigate your workplace issues or provide mediation:

Lived Experience

As a former social worker, I have 20 years of investigative experience in assessing and addressing children’s and families’ well-being. I have led and co-led criminal code investigations and was designated an expert witness in 2005 in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia regarding assessing risk to children. I was also responsible for supervising one of the busiest social work offices and programs within the province. My mandate as a social worker was to support families experiencing physical, sexual, and mental health issues. Protecting vulnerable populations from harm requires assessing risks related to substance abuse, domestic violence, inadequate housing, and poverty, among many other social issues. These experiences in the field, working directly with adults, children, service providers, and collaterals, have given me invaluable perspective, skills, and motivation to help others.

Care & Compassion

In addition, I have lived through it – unaddressed workplace harassment and unsafe workspaces. I lived through a number of catastrophic events that followed when my employer failed to address the workplace harassment I experienced, and it escalated. The event impacted all aspects of my functioning: mental, physical, social, and spiritual. My family was greatly impacted as well, and this was just not acceptable. Years after my own incident, when I was strong enough to share my story, I was punished for speaking up about the violence I experienced. My organization expected me to absorb my experience silently, and I was canceled. All of the steps I took to alleviate the situation were canceled or ignored. Everything I endured was dismissed because of how I responded to a pattern of behavior that left me fearful for my safety and my family’s safety. In response, I plan to be the change that I want to see within our employment systems and relationships, working in partnerships with employers and stakeholders who have the ability and resources to do right by their dedicated and hardworking employees. You deserve better, I deserved better, and so do our families. I want to do for others what nobody did for me, so my intention is to help organizations support their staff with positive outcomes for all involved parties. I aspire to do all that through investigation, assessments, and employment mediation.

Best Practice Education & A Strategic Solutions Approach

My healing journey has taught me that we can do better, so throughout 2023-2024, I dedicated my time and financial resources to completing a number of highly recognized courses via Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, and Queens IRC. While my former employers used a one-size-fits-all approach to address wellness and safety concerns, along with a manufactured statement passing off issues to a remote employee assistance program, this was ultimately not just ineffective but also caused significant harm and distress. While working through this adverse experience, I stockpiled tips that safe spaces start when workplace issues are addressed in a meaningful manner and staff feel secure to share their experiences and concerns without repercussions. Organizations that provide safety to their staff will have less sick time, increased loyalty and productivity, and reduced worker’s compensation claims. My experience taught me valuable lessons, mainly because of what I didn’t receive from my employer in my time of need for safety. It gave me a gift of insight that I want to share. My recent studies have given me valuable skills that help facilitate and improve how we manage these complex and often emotionally charged situations. Assessing risk and creating safety plans and case plans were integral to my duties as a former social worker. From a real-life perspective, I understand how damaging workplace harassment and workplace concerns can be when not adequately addressed through meaningful interventions.
